  The only reason I'm giving 3 stars is because the office closed their gates at 7:40 with no reasoning and turned Pilgrims away who had come in plenty of time to meet the 9PM cut off.

  Organize yourselves in a group of at least 5 and more, which started at the same point. Go to the group desk and you will get a sheet to fill in all details. Make an appointment to pick up the compostellana for the whole group. You will not have to wait at the office and have a beer or dinner in the meanwhile

  There is a security guy with a big police stick at the entrance who will ask you questions obviously in Spanish. Really absurdal to think that a pilgrim is a terrorist with a bomb in the backpack. Oh and you cannot get inside the cathedral with a backapck. You can leave it in this office. But to find the lockers you need to find someone speaking English, but that requires waiting in the long que.

  The official pilgrim's office which issues a certificate, 'Compostela'. A normal certificate is free while one with the distance is 3€. A case to bring certificates safe back home costs 2€.

  All that burden just to get a silly souvenir certificate and make people irritated with the waiting. But the whole of Spain is irracional and bueracratic country. I guess Franco's legacy. The most tourist unfriendly country in Europe I have been.

  Long queues, bring your passport otherwise the security will not permit you.

  You have to wait approx 2h to get the certificate. The whole process is stupidily buearoucratic as you need to provide your passport number in the credencial and they will check if you have stamps from all villages.
